Mystical Gallura
COACH & WALKING
Once left the holiday village by coach, we head towards Luras. During the trip, the tour guide will talk about the characteristic places of the area, the cork-rich forests and the Mediterranean scrub. He will also talk about stories of population, the 'liscesi', or bandits and the stories behind them in the historical novel 'Muto di Gallura'. Before arriving at the village, we will have a close look at two archaeological funerary monuments dating back to the pre-Nuragic period (around 5000 years ago): the Dolmens of Ladas and Ciuledda. Once in the village of Luras, we will visit the Galluras ethnographic museum, where you will find exhibits of objects from the daily life of Sardinians, who were engaged in a variety of agricultural, domestic and recreational activities. In particular, we will also talk about the Accabbadora, a figure between myth and reality in the Sardinian tradition. From Luras we will head to Calangianus to see a famous traditional cork processing workshop and shortly afterwards we will stop for eating something. Lunch will be short but with the tasting of some typical local dishes, such as zuppa Gallurese. We will then head by coach to Tempio Pausania, the so-called City of Stone, as King Vittorio Emanuele I called it. We will walk through the town and visit its main sights, such as the railway machine shops. The return trip by coach is structured to visit Gallura, with various short breaks along the way. In particular, we will see the picturesque Conca Fraicata, the granite mounds of Monte Pulchiana, and the famous viewpoint over the 'Valle della Luna' (Moon Valley). Surely there will be much to tell and many images to see again, after this beautiful day spent among mountains and shady woods.
